Concealed Wiring & Conduit Installation for G-13 Islamabad Homes

23 June 2026·5 min read

G-13 Islamabad has grown quickly over the last decade, and a good share of the wiring work we do there is for houses either under construction or being renovated shortly after handover. The question that comes up most often isn't whether to use conduit — almost everyone wants a clean, concealed finish — it's how to plan concealed wiring so it doesn't limit what you can do with the house later.

Why concealed conduit beats surface wiring

Surface-mounted cabling and trunking is faster to install and cheaper up front, but it shows — strips of trunking running along skirting boards and up wall corners, visible in every room. In a newly built G-13 Islamabad home, that's rarely what homeowners want. Concealed wiring chases PVC conduit into the wall or slab before plastering, so once the wall is finished, there's no visible cable at all — just switches and sockets flush with the surface.

Beyond appearance, concealed conduit protects the cable itself. Wire pulled through PVC conduit is shielded from moisture, rodents, and the physical damage that comes from drilling or nailing into a wall later — the conduit takes the impact, not the cable inside it.

How concealed wiring is actually installed

  1. Circuit and route planning. We mark out where every switch, socket, and light point will sit, then plan the shortest, most direct conduit routes between them and the distribution board.
  2. Chasing. Channels are cut into brickwork or block walls (or embedded in the slab for ceiling points) to hold the conduit before plastering.
  3. Conduit fixing. PVC conduit is laid into the chased channels and fixed in place, with junction boxes positioned at every switch and socket location.
  4. Cable pulling. Cable is pulled through the empty conduit — this is done after the conduit is fixed and the walls are ready, which also means a damaged cable can later be pulled out and replaced without breaking into the wall again.
  5. Termination and testing. Cables are terminated at the distribution board, switches, and sockets, and every circuit is load-tested before handover.

That last point matters more than most people realize: because the cable simply threads through the conduit rather than being embedded directly in plaster, a future fault or upgrade can often be fixed by pulling new cable through the existing conduit — no wall-breaking required.

Planning conduit runs for a G-13 Islamabad house

Some things worth deciding before conduit goes into the walls, rather than after:

  • Confirm final switch and socket positions against your furniture layout — moving a socket after conduit is chased means new chasing, not just a cable change.
  • Plan for future additions. If you might add a generator, solar inverter, or extra AC unit later, running a spare empty conduit to the DB now costs very little and saves cutting into finished walls afterward.
  • Coordinate with plumbing. Conduit routes need to avoid clashing with water lines, especially in kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Decide ceiling wiring before the ceiling goes up. If you're installing a false ceiling, light point conduit should be run before panels are fixed — see our note on sequencing in the wiring services page.

Choosing conduit size and material

We size conduit to the number and gauge of cables it needs to carry, with a bit of spare capacity built in rather than filling it to the limit — that spare room is what makes pulling a replacement cable through later realistic instead of forcing a fresh chase. Standard PVC conduit handles the vast majority of residential runs across G-13 Islamabad; heavier-gauge or metal conduit only comes into play for higher-load circuits like AC feeds or where a run needs extra mechanical protection, such as beneath a driveway or through an exposed exterior wall.

Concealed wiring in existing (not new) G-13 homes

Not every project in G-13 Islamabad is new construction — we also do this for homeowners who bought a house with surface-mounted or partially concealed wiring and want it cleaned up. That work is closer to what we describe for new-construction wiring in Bahria Town Rawalpindi, except we're chasing into existing plaster rather than a bare structure, which means more wall patching and a longer timeline. We always confirm scope and give a fixed quote after seeing the property, since chasing into finished walls varies a lot from house to house.

Does concealed wiring cost more than surface wiring?

Yes, generally — chasing, conduit, and wall patching add labor that surface trunking doesn't require. Most homeowners consider the finished look and cable protection worth the difference, but we'll quote both options if you want to compare.

Can concealed conduit be reused if I renovate later?

In most cases, yes. Because cable is pulled through rather than embedded directly, old wiring can often be withdrawn and new cable pulled through the same conduit, which is one of the main advantages over direct burial methods.

How long does conduit installation take for an average G-13 house?

For a house at the construction stage, conduit routing and chasing typically takes a few days depending on size and layout, done alongside the structural and plaster work rather than as a separate phase.
